Method
- Melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan. Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Arrange bread slices over the caramel layer.
- Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt. Pour over bread.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes until golden.
- Rest 5 minutes, then invert onto a plate so caramel is on top.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for best texture.
Can soak for 2 hours if short on time.
Add cinnamon or orange zest for extra flavor.
