Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet until browned. Drain fat and season.
  3. Mix cream of mushroom soup and milk in a bowl.
  4. Layer half the potatoes in the dish, followed by half the beef and half the soup mixture.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  6. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, add cheese, and bake 15 minutes more until bubbly.
  8. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Slice potatoes thin for even cooking.
Add vegetables like peas or carrots if desired.
Let rest before slicing for clean layers.
