Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thicker glaze
  • 1 tablespoon water if using cornstarch
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Method

  1. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar, and rice vinegar.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a baking dish and pour the marinade over the chicken. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours for deeper flavor).
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Bake the chicken for 25–30 minutes, turning halfway through, until fully cooked and caramelized.
  5. (Optional) For a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with water. Pour the sauce from the baking dish into a pan, add the mixture, and simmer until thick. Brush over the chicken.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Marinating longer gives deeper flavor.
Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra caramelization.
Add chili flakes for hot honey chicken thighs.
Substitute soy sauce with tamari for a gluten-free option.
Works well with bone-in thighs; increase cooking time by 10–15 minutes.
