Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Optional:
  • Chopped green onions
  • Red pepper flakes

Method
 

  1. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Dip chicken into beaten eggs, then coat with cornstarch.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry chicken until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  4. In another pan, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and garlic. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  6. Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken.
  8. Garnish with green onions if desired and serve warm.
