Ingredients
  

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract optional
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) and mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  8. Place cookies on baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let cool completely before decorating.

Notes

Chill dough to prevent spreading
Do not overbake for soft cookies
Use parchment paper for even baking
Decorate only after cookies are fully cooled
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days
